What's Dear Joan about?

Dear Joan is dedicated to one subject - writing better donor direct mail. Specifically for small to medium non-profits.

It's called Dear Joan, because Joan is the imaginary donor I hold in my head as I write charity fundraising letters (by the way, I'm a professional direct response copywriter with over 20 years in DM and fundraising).

Over the years, I've found that this discipline - of writing to an individual donor as though she's sitting right beside you - is  the key to writing successful, truly donor-focused letters. You can read more on the Who's Joan? page.
